Other Important Women

While women in organizations formally involved in the Women’s Movement were working to achieve equality and social justice, there were other women working for the same things across Newfoundland and Labrador in other ways. Some of these women made a difference in their churches, unions, and towns. Some worked to improve conditions for women within their own communities, such as some Aboriginal, Francophone, and immigrant women. All of these women worked to empower other women and improve their conditions. Here is a sampling of some of these women’s stories.
